Kelir
Number portability

Yes, you can keepyour existing number.

Bring your US business number from any carrier or softphone vendor — AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, RingCentral, Dialpad, 8x8, Vonage Business, Nextiva, Quo, Grasshopper, Google Voice, Vonage. Your existing number lands on the full Kelir business phone system — auto-attendant, voicemail transcripts, recording, hunt groups (Team) — running on a real cellular eSIM line. Most ports complete in 1–3 business days; the FCC requires simple ports to release in one business day.

Before you start

What you'll need.

Five pieces of information from your current carrier. All five appear on a recent bill or are accessible from your carrier's account portal.

Don't have your account PIN? Most carriers let you generate one from their app under "Number transfer" or "Port out PIN."

  • Current carrier name
AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Quo, Grasshopper, Google Voice, etc.
  • Full account number
From your most recent bill — usually 9–12 digits
  • Account PIN / transfer PIN / port-out PIN
4–10 digits. Different from your account password.
  • Billing name on account
Exactly as it appears on your bill — Inc/LLC included
  • Service address
Exact match to your most recent bill
Step by step

Four steps, most done in five minutes.

  1. 01Day 0

    Sign up for Kelir

Pick a plan, complete checkout, and select 'Port my existing number' during onboarding. We assign a temporary US number you can use immediately.

  2. 02Day 0

    Submit port details

Provide your current carrier, full account number, account PIN, billing name, and service address. Sign the LOA we generate. Five-minute task.

  3. 03Day 1–3

    Carrier processes

Your existing carrier validates the request and releases the number. Most simple ports clear in one business day per FCC rules. Some carriers take 2–3 days.

  4. 04Day 1–3

    Number activates

The number activates on your Kelir eSIM. The temporary number releases. We send a push and email when complete — no action needed from you.

Bulk port-in (5+ numbers, Team plans) follows the same flow with a single batch submission. We coordinate carrier timing for the whole team.

Rare; we flag in advance
During the port

You don't lose service. You get a temporary US number from minute one.

The moment you complete signup, Kelir provisions a temporary US business number on your eSIM so you can take and make calls immediately. Your existing number keeps working at your old carrier through the port window. When the port lands, your real number activates on the eSIM and the temporary number releases — automatic, no downtime.

Port out anytime

Leaving is the same flow.

Your number is yours, not Kelir's. Whenever you decide to move on, request a port from your new carrier — they coordinate with us, we release within one business day, same as the FCC requires of any carrier. No fee, no contract penalty, no app to uninstall. Data export (call history, voicemail recordings) is available on request before you leave.

Common questions

  • The FCC requires carriers to release simple ports in one business day. End-to-end (from your submission to the number activating on Kelir) typically takes 1–3 business days. Harder ports — including some VoIP-to-cellular ports and ports requiring carrier exceptions — can take 5–21 days. We tell you which category you're in before we start.

  • No. Kelir gives you a temporary US number to use the moment you sign up. Calls and SMS to your existing number continue working through your old carrier until the port completes. When the port lands, the temporary number is released and your existing number activates on the Kelir eSIM.

  • Your full account number with the current carrier, your account PIN (some carriers call it transfer PIN, port-out PIN, or NSP), the billing name on the account, and the service address as it appears on your most recent bill. We provide a Letter of Authorization (LOA) template — sign it and we submit on your behalf.

  • Most US carriers, yes — including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and the major softphone UCaaS providers (RingCentral, Dialpad, 8x8, Vonage Business, Nextiva, GoTo Connect, Zoom Phone) plus the lower-tier alternatives (Quo/OpenPhone, Grasshopper, Google Voice, Sideline). A few prepaid and regional carriers have non-standard processes that can take longer. We confirm portability before any charge.

  • Most port failures come from mismatched information — wrong account PIN, name spelling, or billing address. We tell you what failed and what to fix; you can resubmit at no cost. Ports that fail because the source carrier won't release (rare; usually a contract obligation) we refund in full and you stay on your existing carrier.

  • No. Port-in to Kelir is free for both Solo and Team plans, including bulk port-in for Team accounts.

  • Yes, anytime, no fee. Your number is yours — Kelir doesn't lock it. Submit a port request from your new carrier and we release within one business day for simple ports. Your data export (call history, voicemail recordings) is available on request before you leave.

  • Toll-free port-in is supported on Team plans (Starter and Pro). Toll-free has separate handling under FCC rules and typically takes 4–7 business days. Submit through the same flow with toll-free flagged.
